Redevelopment and refurbishment in the heart of Lewes

This project involved more than a year of negotiation in obtaining planning for a change of use and the creation of 3 residential units, together with a complete refurbishment of this large Grade II listed part Georgian part Victorian building on Cliffe High Street.

The works encompassed restoration and repair of the building inside and out, and face lift for the beautiful original shop front, refurbishment of the shop and basement and the creation of three residential units in the heart of the Lewes Conservation Area.

As is so often the case with historic properties, plans have to be reconsidered and new solutions found and agreed with both the heritage team and building control as the work progresses. Once the works were underway Cath continued to work as a consultant to the project manager, helping to keep the development moving forward as the many and various issues around altering and restoring a lovely old building arose.

Once complete, the residential units were marketed by our Lettings Department and successful let within one day of coming to the market.
