Brighton Pride 2022 was our director Cath Prenton’s 20th Anniversary for designing and building floats for the parade and her 11th float for the Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus. Cath’s years supporting the Pride Parade have seen her design and build a lorry sized ruby slipper filled with Dorothys, create an 25m rainbow flag, commemorate the Stonewall Riots and help the Chorus celebrate their 10th Birthday with drag queens and giant cupcakes that made the pages of the Guardian – to name but a few.
After a two-year pandemic hiatus, this year Brighton Pride returned in all its glory, and celebrated 30th years as an annual event. The sun shone, the crowds cheered and the parade sparkled. As Cath says, the Parade is a wonderful reminder of how far we have come and how far we still have to go across the World…. and there is a wonderful sense of defiance under all that glitter! Until next year and who knows – maybe we can persuade Cath to create something for Eastbourne Pride as well!
